Pixies are tiny elflike fairies, specific to the folklore of southwestern England.

Pixies are usually dressed in green, and dance in the moonlight to the song of the frog and the cricket. They are mischievous spirits, often rapping on walls and blowing out candles.

One of their favourite tricks is to lead travellers astray - this trick has given us the word 'pixie-led' or 'pixilated', to describe a person who gets lost on a familiar road, or, by extension, anybody confused or bewildered.
